Reform FMLA to reduce 480 hours/yr for intermittent FMLA conditions w/proven treatment options; migraines & depression

Created by T.H. on January 22, 2013

Employers struggle to cover FMLA intermittent absences. Management is held accountable for producing high quality products effectively and efficiently but when 1/3 of the workforce qualifies for intermittent leave under the DOL's guidelines, efforts to cover the absences detract from the work at hand. Though some doctors now charge patients to complete FMLA paperwork (time-consuming) certification is almost guaranteed. Employers fear the creation of a workforce unwilling to face any adversity. One must learn how to work with and through the difficulties of life, but 480 hours of intermittent FMLA provides an escape perfected by many employees. Individuals with serious conditions or new parents should be allowed the 480-hour FMLA allotment to care for conditions and recuperate themselves.
