Reform the Gun Laws to mirror those in place in the United Kingdom to protect against more massacres like Sandy Hook

Created by K.S. on December 24, 2012

In Dunblane in Scotland, United Kingdom back in March 1996 a 43yr old man armed with 4 guns massacred 16 children (and their teacher) (the same age as those killed in Sandy Hook), before shooting himself dead. The result was a reform in the UK gun laws, which effectively made private ownership of handguns illegal in the UK.
Plus, those wanting to obtain gun licenses in the UK for sporting use, are subjected to mental & physical health checks, + a visit to their home by a police firearms officer, who will only grant a license, if there is a secure, police approved gun cabinet in placefor storing guns. There is an annual inspection to check for compliance & applicants have to pay for a licence & for a renewal of one every year. The US could do with considering the same reforms to save lives.
