Currently those who entered the United States without inspection are required to return to their country of origin for final processing of their green card. Prior to leaving the United States applicants are advised if they have been approved by USCIS. If we have already approved people for permanent residency there is no reason to force the hardship of returning to their country of origin on them. Many of these people were brought here as children and the United States there home. The trip is an unnecessary financial and emotional burden. In addition it can be a dangerous prospect depending on the specific country of origin. This practice is not needed and only hinders good people from becoming lawful residents of the United States.
