The number of international adoptions by Americans has declined sharply in recent years; leaving alone many children for whom adoption might have been a good option. The Hague Convention was put in place to protect these vulnerable children and make international adoptions safer and quicker, but thus far all it has done is shut down all adoptions in many countries.
Regulations NEED to be put in place and existing regulations changed, keeping in mind the goals of:
-International adoptions taking no more than 1.5 years to complete
- The best interests of children always being the main concern
- Reducing the soaring costs of international adoptions
Children are too valuable to ignore, and orphans deserve families.
