Millions of senior citizens, on social security or disability income, share a unrecognized and important health issue.
Medicare does not cover adequate dental healthcare for them when it is needed the most. As we age, especially those of us whose lifetime income average is at or below the poverty scale and could not afford adequate dental care or insurance, tooth and gum disease seems to explode at the age of 55 and over. Many of us are forced to wait until gum disease claims its victim and self extract each tooth due to lack of resources. At the finish line, we are left with no teeth and our income is insufficient to acquire dentures. This is a huge concern for the elderly or disabled. Our aging immune system doesn't work to well with dental infections.
