Spree killings are as prevalent as they've ever been. Banning or introducing more guns will have no effect. Assault weapons have been both legal and illegal. There is no difference. You can kill just as many people with a pistol as a rifle- both are semi-auto.
What sets these psychopaths apart from normal citizens is they typically have mental issues (e.g. Batman, Columbine, Connecticut shootings).
The NRA wants unlimited guns. The other side wants no guns.
We need better solutions that limit the ability of deranged persons to obtain weapons. They need to be stopped BEFORE they get the weapons. *A required full mental screening by an approved psychologist prior to purchase of a weapon would help immensely. With the healthcare reform, this could be covered through insurance.
