Reform the number of troops allowed overseas in militant deployments without Congressional approval.

Created by M.R. on November 16, 2012

This petition is a call to Congress to reduce the number of troops and the amount of time the President can deploy troops for in peacetime.

Undeclared war is unconstitutional and the last declared US entry into war was into World War Two. This means Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq, and Afghanistan were not considered wars, though the scale of their death tolls indicate they are wars.

US citizens should not enter into war without representation from the Congress they select, and in the case of Vietnam and possible future engagement, should not be drafted into the military during an undeclared war.

If the President sees fit to become involved in a foreign affair for a longer time, he/she must go through the constitutional process of declaring war by gaining approval through the Senate.
