The tax code needs to be revised; not just for the middle or upper class but also for the single "working poor". The working poor either works part-time because that is all they can find or works full-time at low paying jobs. They make too much to receive "welfare" such cash payments, rent assistance, medical assistance (Medicaid) or food stamps.
They do not make enough to be above the poverty level (currently 11,170 a year net) or pay for medical insurance but do make enough to pay income tax. The definition of poverty is: the state of not having enough money to take care of basic needs such as food, clothing, and housing.
How is it possible that someone doesn't make enough to buy food, clothing or housing makes enough to pay taxes? Let's change it so that they don't.
