The Firearms Owners Protection Act (FOPA) had many benefits to the millions of gun owners of America, namely: Helping to stop BATF overreach and outright bullying. But what it also did was limit the American people from the ownership of certain items (Fully Automatic firearms) that were manufactured after the FOPA was passed. Repealing this part of the law would add a large revenue to the BATF by way of lowering the cost of civilian ownership of Machine Guns. There have been almost no (I believe none) crimes committed with legally owned full auto weapons in the history of the BATF and with keeping the same process of registering and paperwork filing there is very little to suggest that those instances would increase if these laws were repealed.
