The Patriot Act was never meant to be a catch all civic surveillance creation for the government. It has grown into such an organization. This is a very slippery slope and needs to be fully and publicly examined.
This is a non-partisan issue. It cuts to the core to of our civic freedoms. The NSA is not an omnipresent evil but it does need limits. Currently it operates without any constraints.
The Patriot Act was written just as technology was reaching across all of America. Now that most Americans use smart phones and interact with the Internet on a daily basis this law needs to be reviewed in more than just a rubber stamp fashion.
