Over the past fifty-five years, attempts have been made to alter the Peace Corps; few substantial initiatives have survived. The Peace Corps remains essentially the same. Peace Corps' mission is to "promote world peace." The champion way to promote world peace is to promote the advancement of human rights. The international situation demands that we find more effective ways to bring about change. A Human Rights Committee, like other committees assembled by Peace Corps, will host advocate training workshops while guiding, supporting, and encouraging volunteers to advocate human rights in their communities. These changes will strengthen development across the globe. We must explore what is possible. We need the political daring that led to the very creation of the Peace Corps itself.
