Public education as it stands serves only to give the youth of today a rudimentary knowledge base on a variety of subjects. Upon completing the course of public education they are expected to cope with a very constricted and demanding job market and pursue higher education at great expense to themselves while having not gained the practical skills and knowledge to do so. The public education system should be changed and geared toward developing real-life skills in students, so upon completing school they can find stable jobs and support themselves. This can be applied to a number of fields including automotive, engineering, medical and so on. Then if the students desires to they can further their education to specialize as would be the case for physicians.
