In many of America's public schools, sex ed curriculae are outdated, even archaic. Some are still teaching in the "abstinence-only" style, now rather antiquated. Some students are going to have sex regardless, and it's better to inform them about proper safe sex then apply scare tactics to stop it. The female body is also barely mentioned, and very little is explained about female genitalia, sexual pleasure, or orgasm. Moreover, many sex ed classes have no mention of trans* people, or sexual orientations. Discovering that you're LGBT is confusing and scary, and being able to learn about these things makes life far easier. Educating the student body in general about LGBT topics may lessen hate and misunderstanding. Tell Obama to urge schools to update sex ed courses to a modern standard!
