Reform shelf-life rules to prevent discard of irreplaceable, critical items like aircraft parts that are no longer made.

Please reform shelf-life regulations througout Government. I have seen hundreds of instances of needed aircraft parts being sold off at auction or crushed as hazardous waste because of "shelf life expiration". There is no engineering reason for this on most items. A nurse at the VA told me of similar incorrect applications of shelf-life that requires them to discard supplies that the manufacturer says are fine.
