The current state of the SNAP program fails to provide Americans with adequate nutritional assistance. The failings of this program are contributing to increasing rates of cardio-vascular disease (the #1 killer of Americans), health care costs, and lost economic productivity. By reforming SNAP, we can DECREASE GOVERNMENT SPENDING on health care costs related to cardio-vascular disease while also SAVING AMERICAN LIVES. We propose that SNAP be restructured into a tiered format. More dollars are allocated for more nutritional foods such as fruits, vegetables, milk, eggs and whole grain bread. Fewer dollars are allocated for less nutritional foods such as soda, chips, and candy. Tier level logos can easily be included of nutritional facts panel.
