SSDI is broken. The program's goal to provide aid and rehabilitation to workers was a failure from the start. Its beneficiaries consist mainly of the elderly unable to be rehabilitated. They're stuck in the program, receiving taxpayer money, until they pass away. Now millions are exploiting this loophole and receiving government checks.

$144 billion dollars was spent on SSDI in 2015 and 10.2 million Americans are receiving benefits. Its growth rate is increasing exponentially too.

SSDI needs to be reformed so it won't be further exploited. State and federal government need to work together. Screening tests should be stricter and more in-depth. Workers tempted to leave the workforce should be given wage subsidies. Finally, the simplest s
