Reform Social Security so that it will last for future generations.

Created by B.G. on September 25, 2011

Social Security is an important program that has kept Senior Citizens out of poverty, but it is not sustainable. Current projections are that it could go bankrupt by 2037. In order to preserve this treasured program for future generations, a variety of steps must be taken. These steps include raising the retirement age according to increases in life expectancy, linking increases in benefits to rises of inflation (instead of wages), reducing benefits for the rich, and raising the maximum taxable income of the payroll tax. Currently, the maximum taxable income of the payroll tax is $106,800. This means that someone who makes $106,800 each year will pay the same as someone who makes, for example, $1 million each year. Please, I urge everyone to sign this petition to save this beloved program.
