Reform student loan collection laws including inclusion of student loans in chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcy filings.

Created by C.S. on November 15, 2012

Both federal and private student loan lenders routinely abuse collection regulations and violate collection laws. Current provisions for forebearance and deferment are insufficient in protecting students from viscious lenders who employ ruthless collections corporations to harrass and threaten students. Given the current skyrocketing tuition costs, the current forebearance and deferment time lines allowed are ineffective in providing the intended relief to students even when granted. This effectively saddles a high percentage of students with a life-long student loan debt preventing viable economic participation with no recourse for debt relief regardless of their income or chosen field of expertise.
