I started this petition because as a taxpayer of the United States of America I am fed up with the things my tax dollars and the tax dollars of millions of Americans are paying for. The Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program commonly known as SNAP was designed and paid for by taxpayers to help struggling families, the elderly, single childless adults, and the disabled to put healthy meals on the table. Sadly, this is not what is happening. Instead of healthy meals processed foods, expensive luxury items, pop, energy drinks and plain junk food are being bought while healthy items are being completely ignored.
I am calling on the White House and Lawmakers in both Houses of Congress to review the program and reform it to prohibit the use of SNAP bebefits for such purchases.
