Raise the federal gas tax and tie it to inflation so that the National Highway System (NHS), as established by federal law and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), is maintained, improved, and expanded.
Furthermore, respect the "user pays" principle by only using federal gas tax funds for highway projects that promote interstate commerce instead of using such funds for sidewalks, covered bridges, mass transit, restrictive land use policies, etc.
