It use to be the male as the main source of income, not anymore, we live in tough economic times, where it takes two in the household to support children. There should not be interest on arrearages owed- the government is not loaning us our children! Courts should take into consideration both incomes and the true cost of what it takes to raise a child on BOTH incomes. The custodial parent should also face consequences for not financially contributing for example collecting welfare and not working when completely capable of. It is a tragedy that a father can be expected to live on 25% of his gross weekly pay. The current guidelines are completely unjust and unfair. Child support laws are designed as enablers for the parent receiving the support. We need to change the laws NOW!!
