As we have just seen in regards to the recent massacres in Syria by the Assad Military and hired thugs, the veto power of the five permanent members of the Security Council, including Russia's and China's, has proved to be a detrimant to peace. We have also seen the United States use its veto power over and over to defend the zionist state of Israel's crimes against the civilian Palestinian population. The United Nations could be very effective, if it wasn’t rendered toothless by the veto power of the five permanent members in the Security Council, essentially a dictatorship. This petition calls for the abolition of permanent membership in the Security Council and of the power of veto.
