Reform the U.S. Meat Animal Research Center

Created by M.O. on January 20, 2015

The taxpayer-funded U.S. Meat Animal Research Center was created 50 years ago to help meat producers create more profits by experimentation on animals.

A recent New York Times investigation brought to light that the Center's experiments include cruel, painful and inhumane experiments. The Animal Welfare Act does not provide basic protections for farm animals used in research to benefit agriculture, so there is virtually no oversight as to what suffering the animals at the Center can be forced to endure.

We ask that the Department of Agriculture immediately investigate and reform the Center so that it, at minimum, adheres to the same standards farm animals are given in slaughterhouses and private laboratories.
