There are gross abuses on the current tax policies. The current tax code needs to be completely scrapped and replaced with an incredibly simple tax code that eliminates any and all loopholes that make it possible for corporations like GE to not pay taxes. Keep it simple. Make it fair. Build a completely new tax code from scratch
● Overhaul overdue. The last time the US made big changes to its tax system was in 1986 under Ronald Reagan. It took months of tortuous negotiations with a Republican Senate and a Democratic House of Representatives.
● Voluminous variations. The code is now 10,000 pages long, a bloated set of rules often incomprehensible to all but the most expensive accountants. Exemptions big and small are numerous.
● Electoral exigencies. A veneer of bipartisanship exist
