reform the voting system to a preferential ballot, otherwise known as the alternative vote

Created by M.K. on November 17, 2012

The current system of the electoral college is deeply flawed and long overdue for reform.

The alternative vote is an electoral system used to elect a single winner from a field of more than two candidates. It is a form of preferential voting (or ranked choice voting) in which voters rank the candidates in order of preference rather than simply selecting a single candidate.

This system will help to foster multiple political platforms representing everyone, rather than just two parties that represent broad generalities and contribute to political polarity. Multiple political parties are needed to help reintroduce real and productive dialogue back into the governmental process.
