Right now there is no system in place for monitoring the chemicals used in hydraulic fracturing. Therefore, areas where drilling has occurred have contaminated water, filled with over 500 mysterious, unregulated chemicals. Residents of those areas are forced to fight major oil and gas companies on their own. There have been instances where people can set their water on fire, but are repeatedly told from the companies that their water is safe. When contamination is acknowledged, the residents are told that they are responsible for finding viable water since no there is no proof that the contamination occurred as a result of the fracking. Millions of gallons of water are now contaminated. Regulations should be in place to protect our drinking water.
