Reform the 'We the People' web petition tool to not allow petitions for secession.

Created by K.P. on November 14, 2012

'We the People' is a web based tool hosted by WhiteHouse.gov which allows people to build petitions seeking answers and actions regarding important issues.

Recently it has been abused by fringe groups asking for "secession" with no sponsorship or support from their state government. Obviously, it is not in the scope of the federal government to address these petitions, and is a highly inappropriate use of the tool.

Therefore, we respectfully ask the moderators of the site and the Obama administration to reform the tool to not allow for petitions requesting secession for any state or territory, to allow for more suitable and appropriate petitions to receive attention, remove the burden on moderators, and give the tool more legitimacy as a method of voicing concerns.
