Reform Welfare and Stop Penalizing Success!

Created by A.S. on September 01, 2012

Welfare has existed in some form since the first emperor of Rome distributed Corn Dole to the poor. Coincidentally, welfare fraud has also existed since the City of Rome. Reasons for welfare fraud can vary, but all welfare fraud cases share two similarities, they can be stopped, and they victimize working citizens.

The Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Act of 1996 was passed to reduce welfare fraud, and to oust the Welfare program and to replace it with the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, which requires families to be job-ready within two years of signing up for the program. However, in July, the Obama Administration began to allow states to waive this requirement. We need to reverse this, and require abusers of this system to become part of the work force once again!
