Reform the welfare system by initiating requirements for able-bodied recipients to contribute to the community.

The majority of the American public is aware of long-term recipients of welfare and often feel that the system enables many to avoid seeking their overall potential within their communities. Having mandatory community service pair with welfare programs can benefit our communities (community gardens, litter removal, soup kitchen staff, etc). This initiative will also allow adult welfare recipients more networking abilities and and a real chance to 'give back'. This is a petition for mandatory community service. This community service would be for a couple hours a week for those recipients who are deemed physically and mentally able to contribute. This will leave plenty of time for job seeking as well.
