The student loan program only serves to put students in debt, restricting their financial freedom and their ability to contribute to the economy through investment and greater spending. Public Institutions like public schools should be part of federal expenditures and allow students who choose to go to school the ability to go, making either books or housing a personal expenditure while tuition is covered through the government. If not possible, more opportunities to abolish student debt should be made more widely available and offered to students who have completed their studies.
