Reformed gun laws banning semi-automatic assault weapons from personal ownership, along with mandatory background checks

This should not entirely and absolutely ban the personal ownership of firearms. However, the removal of high capacity magazines and assault weapons will undoubtedly dramatically decrease the number gun-related deaths in the US. Mandatory in-depth background checks will help this preventative measure in the long-term. Personal ownership of smaller non-assault firearms should remain legal for those who feel they want it.
