Banning so-called assault firearms is a violation of The Second Amendment and what it stands for. Changing magazine capacities is pointless. Many states including my own already have magazine capacity limitations and firearms limitations as well. These laws so far have proven to be Ineffective in saving lives. They may even endanger lives. Outlawing guns and high-capacity magazines simply put the law-abiding public at the mercy of the criminal segment. Types of firearms to be owned and magazine capacity should be the choice of the public and law-abiding citizen not their government. Why should the law abiding public suffer under constricting laws because of the 3% violent crimes where a rifle was used?
