WE PETITION the President to refrain from supporting any presidential candidate, until after the nominating convention has chose a Nominee for that candidate's party.
For the President to support a candidate in a contested primary will only weaken the Administration and its capacity to advance important policy goals. To attempt to influence the nominating process or its outcome--formally or informally--will embroil the White House in unnecessary and perhaps debilitating controversy; and it would surely alienate a substantial portion of Americans who would otherwise support the Administration in its goals.
The President and The White House should NOT support a candidate for nomination for President, while that candidate is still involved in a contested primary campaign.
