Basic animal welfare laws, such as anti-cruelty laws, have been a part of American Federal, State, and Local statutes for over 50 years; we must expect the same from our current and future trading partners.
Animals, such as, but not limited to; dogs, cats, birds, and horses, should not have to endure being beaten or starved to death; boiled or roasted alive, forced to fight for their lives, or suffer any other inhumane act for human pleasure.
Countries that do not prohibit the cruel and inhumane treatment and/or slaughter of animals, for any reason, such as, but not limited to; consumption, dog fighting, or the Yulin Dog Meat Festival in China, must create and enforce basic animal welfare laws, lest we as a nation, will refuse to enter into any trade agreement or partnership with them.
