Because of the widespread and systematic violations in the recent presidential elections in Russia, Mr. Putin cannot be regarded as a lawfully elected president of Russia. Instead, he should be brought to justice for breaking multiple laws and corrupting multiple democratic institutions in Russia. We ask Mr. President to withheld Mr. Putin’s invitation to the 38th summit of the Group of Eight (G8) in Camp David on May 18-19, 2012 and to help to suspend the membership of Russia in this organization until new and fair elections are held in Russia. The world is facing multiple challenges in the 21st century and the people of the world need Russia’s full participation in solving these challenges. The latter would only be possible if Russia develops as a true democracy.
