GOP Senator Ron Johnson is holding town meetings to warn his constituents about the threat that ISIS (the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria) poses to America and to push for a "stabilizing force" of U.S. ground troops to eradicate ISIS. Johnson is spreading the following three lies to advance his cause. He claims that 1) Barack Obama made a huge policy blunder in not maintaining a "stabilizing force" of over 100,000 in Iraq, 2) That President Obama didn't take ISIS seriously until video of the beheading of journalist James Foley surfaced, and 3) That continued U.S. involvement in Iraq will make the American Homeland safer from terrorists. U.S. troops were asked to leave by the Iraqi government, which is democratic and sovereign, and the other two points have clearly been proven false.
