Register weapons by providing a yearly background check, show possession, and provide a secure area of the weapon.

Created by A.N. on May 13, 2013

I personally am a gun owner, and I'm proud that we have the power to own a variety of weapons for sport and security for our families.

One thing I don't like is that those who are desperate or scandalous can buy a weapon, find the highest bidder, and resell the weapon without any regulation to stop it. So, from my point of view, we're setting ourselves up for failure.

Here's my idea: we keep our current background checks and gun rights, but we tag on a yearly registration to each weapon. The system for registering guns will follow the similar system that we already have - which is vehicle registration - only that it will be cost free and (hopefully) low on our taxes. Those who possess must be cleared, must provide a secured area for their weapon and show evidence that they still own it.
