In the past decade, our Government has been unable to create a sound fiscal policy and budget, instead, relies on the equivalent of "kicking the can down the road" style tactics to solve the fiscal problems. At the same time, our elected leaders continue to enjoy full benefits of their office without possibility of punishment for failing to do what is the right thing to do, "because it is hard."
This Petition seeks to force the Government into a sound policy by punishing the elected officials who fail their Constitutionally-bound task. This punishment shall consist of no less than automatic reduction in pay and elimination of benefits. For any failure lasting longer than 6 months: ALL elected leaders in Congress must resign and be banned from re-election.
