regulate all interstate commerce and trade using the Metric system as opposed to S.A.E. (Imperial Measurements)

While most of the advanced countries throughout the world utilize the Metric system for trade, commerce & technology, The United States of America hinders itself by stubbornly sticking with an archaic system of measurements that was created in the dark ages when leeches were an acceptable method of medical treatment. No system is "better" than another, but we should acknowledge that all countries using the SAME systems will have quicker and more efficient transactions with less chance for error. How many times have we seen something go horribly wrong because the units weren't properly converted? And why must mechanics own two sets of tools and equipment?
