regulate and tighten rules on the usage of plain-clothes officers across the country.

Created by C.G. on December 11, 2014

The usage of "plain-clothes" in urban areas of the U.S. has been overused. Mostly driving around predominantly black/Hispanic neighborhoods in unmarked vehicles such as minivans/hatchbacks. Plain-clothes officers will make traffic stops but It's hard to trust when a badge, vest & holster can be purchased easily. There are times where citizens will simply stand in an area & the plain-clothes will walkup, ask for identification and begin questioning. We understand detectives in a polo or suit. Even dressing for undercover drug/prostitution stings but we do not understand regular officers wearing shorts, jersey/sport shirt and a cap just walking/driving around as regular uniformed officers looking for trouble. Causing distrust. We ask for a dresscode & be patrolled fairly without stereotype.
