For far too long Beaver Dams have gone unregulated. As long as this great nation of ours has existed, beavers have been able to indiscriminately build their dwellings wherever they see fit. In doing so, these beavers have caused an exessive amount of damage to the environment, as well as peoples livelihood and safety.
Flooding can remove pastures and crops from production and drown stands of trees. An estimated $22 million in losses annually to the southeastern U.S. timber industry has been reported. Flooding may also threaten public safety by compromising the integrity of levees, dikes, roadways, bridges, and trestles through saturation of the soil with water. Swimmers have been attacked by angry beavers.
We would like to see beavers regulated by inspectors to build dams in better areas
