Advertising that shows an unrealistic body image of photoshopped and electronically edited models, can portray a false image of a normal human body to children. These portrayals have become normalized in our media sources, such as television and magazines, causing children to believe from a young age that this is the ideal body they should strive to achieve. This can cause a decrease in self-esteem and self-worth over time when these children become young adults and are dissatisfied with their own body image.
