Regulate Broadband Access Costs

Created by D.F. on October 26, 2011

My petition advocates Federal regulations to reduce and control broadband Internet access costs.

Many ISPs that provide broadband Internet access are in fact or effect unregulated monopolies. If there are alternatives in their geographical areas, those companies base their prices on the monopolists' standards, thereby not being true competitors. The system amounts to exorbitant price fixing by one or a few providers.

The monopolists perpetually raise their prices at will, with no real justification. Broadband Internet access is a public utility like telephone and gas and electric services, and as such should be price regulated.

Broadband Internet access has countless benefits and should be available to all citizens at fair prices. It's now far too expensive.
