Imported pet foods and treats need tighter regulations for pets health and safety. In recent years, food products from China have killed many family pets prior to being recalled by the distributor. This practice of non-regulating imported pet food products will fatally harm more pets in the future considering the lack of accountability of the distributor (if the distributor is known).
Minimum regulation is needed to prevent poisonous feed from entering the US market. The taxes could be easily absorbed by pet food importers and ultimately the consumer (cost spread throughout a large amount of feed.)
