Regulate the lighting on off-shore oil rigs to help prevent migrating song bird deaths

Created by H.A. on January 15, 2012

Migrating songbirds are dying because of the night-time lights on off-shore oil rigs. They are confused by the bright lights and circle the rigs until they drop into the ocean and die. This sad state of affairs has been recognized and alleviated in the North Sea by simply changing the lights used on their oil rigs. Please sign this petition to encourage the white house to regulate the lighting on oil rigs off our shores so that they will make this simple change and save many of these birds from this unnecessary fate.
