Satellite radio needs regulated by the federal government, and the following practices must be enforced:
1. Automatic renewal must be optional, and unless you "opt in" to automatic renewal, you automatically "opt out."
2. Payment by check must not involve an "Invoice Fee" even if it is permitted in some states.
3. Once a subscriber cancels an account, "do not contact" rules go into effect. All phone calls and e-mail must stop, unless the former subscriber "opts in" to future contact.
Due to the national nature of satellite delivered radio, federal regulation is necessary to protect consumers from these predatory practices. If you pre pay by check, the subscription must automatically cancel and there should be no late fees or additional funds owed at the end of a subscription period.
