School cafeterias use antiquated nutrition standards and take shortcuts to keep a small budget. This petition suggests that schools take time to figure out the percentage of students that actually need the food and focus solely on their nutritional needs. The food standards will be more specific to the county. If school children are specifically not getting enough fruits, that will be stressed in the school sanctioned diet. With eliminating the food that is wasted, hopefully there will be more of a flexibility to the budget that can be redistributed towards the overall quality of the food.
