Regulate school starting times to allow students to get adequate amounts of sleep.

Created by H.N. on January 03, 2013

In some areas, schools have changed their start times to be more accommodating of their students proper sleep schedules and have benefited because of it. In many of these cases, test scores and happiness levels improve while illness levels decrease. These schools need to be the model for the future if we wish to see improvement in our education system. In the majority of high schools in this country students must wake up, go to school, and try to learn when their brain is telling them they should be asleep. During adolescence, kids need the proper amounts of sleep in order to learn and stay healthy. Yet we force students to perform at times when they should still be asleep and still demand progress from them. This needs to change.
