Sober Living Homes need to provide safe environments for people to recover in a clean and safe environment. There are far too many deaths due to overdosing and violence. These “Sober Living” homes are often overcrowded, and have unsafe conditions.The Federal Government should consider oversight, to protect residents from any harm. The Federal Government should look to:
1. Have Narcotic sniffing dogs to check homes randomly on a monthly basis at the owner’s expense.
2. First aid training requirement for managers and staff
3. Narcan and defibrillator on site with staff trained in use.
4. Proper Fire Safety code enforcement such as number of residents, fire alarms, CO detectors and fire escapes for safe exit.
5.. Local or State inspection certificate.
