Bees are a vital in ensuring the survival of nations, and the human race. "Bees pollinate 80% of flowering crops which constitute 1/3 of everthing we eat." (Mother Nature Network, 2010) Hence, I am disturbed by the drastic decline in bee populations worldwide. Many have attributed this crisis to several factors: disease, climate change, and the widespread use of insecticides. I believe a good first step to curbing the decline would be to regulate the use of pesticides in our nation's crops. The EU (European Union) has already banned the use of neonicotinoid pesticides in an effort to save their crops. Doing the same at home would benefit not only ourselves, but future generations to come, only at the expense of pesticide companys like Monsanto.
